Led by ECB Level 4 coach James Fielding, JF Cricket Coaching brings over 20 years of coaching experience, including 18 years at Lord’s Cricket Ground, where James spent the last 5 years as Head Coach. Delivering high-quality coaching across London and Hertfordshire, JF Cricket Coaching combines elite-level expertise with a player-first philosophy.

James has a remarkable ability to connect with and develop cricketers of all ages.

James has been coaching my two sons, now aged 13 and 11, since May 2023, and I can recommend him without reservation. James is an ECB Level 4 coach and, until very recently, Head Coach at Lord’s, and his experience is evident in every session. He has an exceptional ability to work with cricketers of all ages, translating complex technical concepts into clear, manageable steps that young players can readily understand and apply. Sessions are well structured, engaging, and enjoyable, with rapid and noticeable improvement across batting, spin bowling, and seam bowling.

From a technical perspective, James is outstanding. He can quickly identify flaws in a bowling action that lead to inconsistency or potential injury and break down and rebuild that action effectively, often within a session or two. His batting coaching goes well beyond mechanics; he teaches players how to score runs, where scoring opportunities lie, and how to build an innings intelligently based on field placements and match situations. Importantly, James also places a strong emphasis on the mental side of the game. Throughout sessions he speaks to the players about resilience, decision-making, game awareness and mindset, using a warm and encouraging style that prioritises long-term development and learning over short-term results.

As a direct result of the progress made under James’s coaching, both boys are now part of performance academies and representative teams. Just as importantly, they remain highly motivated and enthusiastic about their cricket and look forward to every session. James delivers elite-level technical coaching alongside an approach to player development that is exactly what young cricketers need to thrive.

James consistently adapts his coaching to bring out the best in every individual.

When I first started working with James Fielding, I was 12 and had never scored a fifty. Over the following three years, I went on to score three centuries, and more importantly became a far more consistent and composed cricketer. James has an exceptional ability to tailor his coaching to the individual. He builds programmes around each player’s strengths, helping you turn them into real weapons while still addressing weaknesses in a clear, structured way. His technical coaching is excellent on every facet of the game, supported by detailed video analysis, alongside high-level strength and conditioning guidance.

The biggest impact for me, however, has been on the mental side of my game. He completely transformed my mindset around batting - staying patient, managing pressure, and choosing how to respond during difficult periods of play. He isn’t afraid to challenge you, sometimes deliberately pushing you out of your comfort zone to build resilience and discipline. You don’t always realise how much you’re improving while it’s happening, but looking back, the difference is clear: better shot selection, fewer dismissals through frustration, longer innings, and steadily improving averages. His coaching has made me a better cricketer in every sense, and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.
